Nebiolo and Barolo
Nebbiolo is the noblest son of Piedmont, a red grape variety that has chosen the Piedmontese hills as its home, where it expresses some of the greatest reds in the world. In particular, the hills of the Langhe are its undisputed realm, where it demands only the slopes at south, avoiding the windswept peaks and valleys that are too humid and cold, to comb the hills with its tall branches, kept like hedges in Versailles; it is with maniacal care that from March to October the very few fruits are selected to finally be destined for harvesting, when by now the first mists veil the hills and well justify its poetic name.
